So... the downside of living in a cement building...

...would be cement walls.

Seriously, where the fuck am I supposed to hang all my artwork?

More to the point, what can I put on my walls so they won't be so bare?

SAD. :I

Most disgusting thing ever.

I've started seeing these... bugs in my apartment.

They look like giant ants. (And by giant I mean, like 4x the size... like the size of a beetle.)

And I finally caught one while it was on linoleum (instead of carpeting) and smashed it...

...and it was filled with white goo. *pukes*

I had to run the bottom of my shoe under hot water for like 5 minutes to get all of it off.

Terribly unfair.

I remembered when I woke up this morning that I had to go get a cavity filled and barely managed to make my appt. But now I am convinced that she fucked something up, because it hurt really badly when she was doing the initial drill-out, and now the anesthetic is wearing off, it really hurts. Feels like a nerve.

I've had a lot of fillings, but it never felt like this.

And I mean a LOT. I have some ridiculous amount like 7 or 8 fillings. I swear, my teeth are going to fall out by the time I'm 30. I brush twice a fricken day, I always floss at night AND I even use fluoride rinse once or twice a day, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME!? I even started wearing my night guard again because she told me I was wearing down my front teeth too much... EVEN THOUGH it makes my neck really sore cause I end up clenching them more.

I take way better care of my teeth than like... everyone else I know. This is terribly unfair.

No I will not stop eating caramels and cookies though. Hrrmph.

So throwing up for 20 minutes straight is a lot more painful than I remember it being.

I am actually kind of worried because the teeth in the back of the right side of my mouth started hurting even before my throat, and they hurt even more now. But I already had all my wisdom teeth out.

If you don't hear from me ever again, I contracted some strange disease in Mexico and died.

Feel free to embellish as you please and tell my horror story to all your friends.

Got home last night...

and today as I was leaving to going to the post office to pick up my mail (because once again, my retarded postman flaked out on me--this time he decided "resume service" and "deliver accumulated mail" meant "keep holding for as long as you feel like") because my neighbors were being ESPECIALLY noisy and I knew that staying longer would result in another headache, I exited my apartment, saw that glorious carpet cleaning tube running out their front door, so I peeked inside and......

'lo and behold... the goddamn place was empty.

I was so happy I almost cried.

Sure, someone else noisy could move in, but that family would be hard to beat (like, even if the big fat cleaning guy that was stomping around in there moved in, he would at least be working 9-5 so I could get a break from the noise.) Like eight people lived there, including three young children and one baby that were *always* there. Baby constantly crying, kids running around and slamming doors, men yelling in Spanish non-stop every night. TWO little yappy dogs that would wig out anytime someone walked by their front door. They were the neighbors from hell.

They were the ONLY thing keeping me from loving this townhouse and were seriously making me consider breaking my lease. They were making miserable and now they're GONE!!!!!

Best surprise to come home to. Ever.

And I am officially taking a cab home next time I get back from the airport. $2 for the train instead of $40 for a cab is difficult to rationalize when it's pouring and you have a heavy duffel bag without wheels...
......actually, it would be a lot less than $40 since I live right near the airport now.

ROFL. I wish I was joking. It would be less depressing.

FOX "news" (I'm waiting for Scrubs to come on <_<) just showed your stereotypical "Why Americans are horribly obese" footage of headless torsos from big fat people walking by the camera with the voice-over: "Possible health benefits to being slightly over-weight? Why putting on a few extra pounds might not be a bad idea."

Seriously? Seriously, we're doing this now?

At the very least don't show the MORBIDLY OBESE people for this argument.

But what do I expect from the news show that follows up with, "How this man's pet chipmunk saved his life twice."

So... I guess today is election day?

Oops-crap on that one, because I never got my ballot. I thought that I didn't need to update my registration because I got something in the mail from them, but in retrospect this happened two years ago and I found out that time that they don't forward ballots because of security and whatnot. News just said turn-out is like the lowest it's ever been, at 38%... :( SORRY OREGON. Uh... hope 50 passes. Whoops. (Or do I? I get so confused about these measures because it's always like half really good and half bad/suspicious and then I just get nervous and uncomfortable with voting because I'm worried I'm voting a way I actually don't want to.)

I've only voted once in my life, and it didn't work--Bush was re-elected.

In my defense, the past two weeks have been a blur. I'm finally almost finished with Hikari 5+6 (i.e. what will be released as volume 3) and it was painful to say the least. Still need to do a bit more at the end, but... gah. Before I sleep, it will be DONE. For now.

Ooh~ Cash Cab! </dork>

My computer peripherals are rebelling this week, I swear.

External hard drive? Only starts up when it feels like it.

Speakers? Suddenly rattling.

Mouse? Decided that 1 click = 1 click x random number. You have no idea how insanely annoying it is typeset an comic book with a mouse that spontaneously clicks 2, 3, or 4 times when you only hit it once. Not to mention how annoying it is to do anything in general. The irony here is I can't even shop for a new one because when I hit the back/forward buttons it skips like 3 pages back... it knows I'm trying to replace it... evil!!! o_o

BUT--it's the mouse for my wacom tablet, which I've only had for like 3 months. So wtf. This is the crap I get for like $400? Fuck you!!

I guess I don't use my tablet enough that I need to have it constantly out, so maybe I'll just get a normal mouse.

REGARDLESS, this is seriously not helping my recent disinclination towards productivity of any sort.

And top this off with a keyboard that can't even keep up with me typing at my normal speed and indesign crashing at least once per hour, and I just might kill someone! :D

Okay, so Saturday night we were at Jimmy Mak's (Jazz club) and the first band (David Milne) was great, but the second performance--who we only stayed for because we heard them tuning up much earlier that night and were blown away by the singer's voice--was incredible.

Her name was Debra Arlyn, and seriously... her voice is freaking incredible. As Nick put it, "She's a bit of a diva." But... oh well. She was absolutely riveting. It helped that the band backing her up was absolutely awesome as well. Actually, you can see the over-the-top diva-ness in her promo video, which is the only one I could find on her (too bad no one's put up a bit from one of her live performances):

<lj-embed id="2" />

Well, we bought her CD (I think you can listen to all the songs on her myspace.) But I'm not sure if I'd like it this much if I hadn't heard her live. It's hard to tell. I guess I'll never know. She's supposed to be at Doug Fir in December~ and I guess someplace else in Portland called The Buffalo Gap several times before then, but... I'm pretty sure I don't go to places like that. Yeaaah.

OH, now Ingrid Michaelson!? AND OLD NAVY?

FOR SHAME. FOR SHAAAAME.

I think I'm starting to remember why I stopped watching TV for like a year and a half in college.

(It's okay though, cause the deliciousness of this Family Guy premiere is washing it all away~~~)

(At least she refused McDonald's... heh.)

I haven't been able to find any good concerts during when you're coming, Erin. :/ We'll have to settle for the millions of other things to do.
